I am an 18-year Pilates practitioner, the last wonderful ten years with The Pilates Lab. Since retiring 4 years ago, I religiously take Pilates twice a week, once with Beth and once with Amy. I especially love reformer and tower classes. I was super appreciative that The Pilates Lab went virtual immediately after Covid hit. Amy has been a lifesaver with her Props class! She's made virtual Pilates fun, interesting, and effective! I feel as though I have not lost any ground while continuing practicing Pilates in my living room. Amy has so much knowledge and challenges me, while working around certain limitations that I have. I am happy to put all my props to good use! I always feel energized after Pilates with Amy, and leave looking forward to the next one! As a Zumba instructor, Pilates definitely is an invaluable part of my routine and keeps me doing what I love!
Amy is so amazing with alignment and body mechanics. I was having excruciating hip pain and her private lessons with me, focusing on alignment and strengthening of very specific muscles, knocked it into submission.
After my first class at the Pilates Loft (12 years ago!) with certified trainer Beth Elkins, I knew that I had found the right place to get the results I wanted. Whether in small groups, i.e. Mat and Tower classes, or a private session, special attention is extended to newcomers and veterans alike, and there is always encouragement to be better and stronger. The reward is a sleek, lean, and toned body with awesome abs!
I have had Pilates sessions with Amy for many months and I enjoy the variety and enthusiasm she brings to a work out. One characteristic to her teaching is that she encourages you to try progressively more difficult exercises that you’re not sure you can do at first. As you try them, you learn that you actually can perform them and, as a result, have a more productive session. She helps me keep correct form so I can get the most benefit from the exercises and that has helped me maintain strength and balance during this current period of COVID.
I exercised regularly for many years in a very traditional way. I was encouraged to try a Pilates class taught by Karen which I did. That was about six years ago. Nothing has been the same since. I have never been in better shape nor liked my workouts more than I do now. Karen knows proper form and through genuine caring guides her students through these workouts at a pace that always feels appropriate! This is a lifelong routine for me now!
I’m in love with the warmth of this beautiful space. The loft and the foundry are stunningly inviting, the layout is beautiful, so much character in both spots. The fabulous instruction is just a small portion of the enriching benefits received from practicing here. Thanks Beth for having such wonderful vision, I LOVED working with Karen today. This place is a true gem.
I have been going to the Pilates loft for just over three years now. For the record, I have never been someone who’s looked forward to exercise. Working with Beth has changed that. Beth and her instructors have an intuitive method that both meets their clients where they are, and challenges them as well. I have taken private, semi-private and group classes and loved them all. The Pilates Loft is a supportive environment in which to explore your personal fitness goals and strengthen both the mind and body alike. I could not be happier!
